The Saga of Night and Day
The Circlet Sea
The Circlet Sea is a strange, river-like intercoastal waterway that wraps around continental Telos between the mainland and the Sister Shores. The Circlet Sea remains a distinct body of water as it traces its way around the Great Isle except for a small break along Telos’ northeast coast. This break in The Circlet Sea is the only place where the open ocean is accessible directly from the mainland.
The width and depth of the Sea varies greatly, but most portions are navigable by low keel boats. Some areas are spanned by bridges and fords. Local legends tell of dark and prickly parts of the Sea where monsters abound and few dare to explore.
The Sea’s consistency changes based on nearby geology/ecology, such as the intersection of mainland river deltas or abutting coastal marshlands. The Circlet Sea is primarily fresh water in some areas and primarily salt water, or a mix of both, in other areas.
